7'11" x 10'3" Pakistani Oriental Rug | Ivory Allover Floral Design | Fine Lustrous Wool, Never Used

Hold this one up to the light and the wool does the talking: a fine lustrous pile on a cotton foundation, clipped low so that every stem and every flower head stays legible. The field is ivory, covered edge to edge in flowering vinework, and the rug has never been walked on. Photo 6 is the honest one, with a ruler laid on the reverse: the knot nodes are small, square and evenly spaced, which is the only way a curvilinear drawing like this holds its line. At 7'11" x 10'3" it lands in the single most useful footprint we sell, so it slots straight into the 8x10 area rug plan most rooms are built around. If you are weighing one Oriental rug against another and want to know what the labels actually mean, that guide is worth 5 minutes. Every rug we ship leaves Freeport with a certificate of authenticity confirming it is 100% hand-knotted, along with its measurements, materials and origin.

Please Note About the Photographs:

The first full-length photograph was shot under warm showroom lighting and reads a little pinker and flatter than the rug does in daylight. The close-up images are the truest guide to color: the ground is a warm ivory rather than peach, and the greens are much more present in person than the overhead shot suggests.

Design and Motifs

There is no formal medallion here. Instead the weaver worked a mirrored allover composition that pivots on a single small rosette at the exact center of the field, visible in the close-up, with everything above and below it reflecting across that axis. Out from there run thin scrolling vines carrying broad palmettes, open 8 petal rosettes, serrated lancet leaves, tulips, carnations and tight clusters of small blossoms, each flower outlined in navy or charcoal so it reads cleanly against the pale ground. The spandrel corners are filled rather than left open, which keeps the pattern continuous right to the border line, a detail that makes the rug forgiving when furniture covers part of the field. The frame is built in 5 bands: a wide main border of linked palmettes and rosettes on a soft rose ground, flanked by narrow guard stripes of meandering vine and reciprocal blossoms, with a fine outer stripe pulling the whole thing in. Flat, white cotton fringe finishes both ends.

A Warm Ivory Field With Rose, Green and Brown

The ground is a warm ivory that drifts toward tan and light taupe where the wool catches light, which is what gives the rug its soft, lit-from-within look in the corner photograph. Over it the rose family does most of the work, running from a muted brick rose in the larger flower heads down through salmon and dusty pink in the smaller buds, with the main border carrying the deepest concentration of that tone. Green is the quiet counterweight: deep forest green in the leaves and leaf tips, a grayer sage in the vine scrolls and the guard stripes. Browns and chocolate tones anchor the outlines and the stem work, while navy, charcoal, pale sky blue, gold and clear white appear as small accents inside the palmettes and rosettes. Nothing shouts. This is a low-contrast, light-field rug that sits under furniture without competing with it, and it belongs with the rest of our ivory and beige Oriental rugs for buyers working with cream walls, oak floors or warm neutral upholstery.

Made in Pakistan: Weaving and Quality

This rug was hand-knotted in Pakistan, one of the few places still producing fine classical floral work at this level of drawing. The workshops there weave on upright looms from a detailed squared cartoon, with the weaver reading the design cell by cell, and the best of them specialize in exactly this kind of tightly scaled allover floral where a single misread row would throw a vine out of register. The evidence is on the back: a dense, flat, even reverse with no ridging, matched ends, straight sides and no pull or waviness anywhere along the 10'3" length. The pile is a fine lustrous wool, sheared short to expose the drawing, and it is the sheen of that wool, rather than any silk, that makes the rose and green read so brightly against the ivory. Brand new and never used, with a perfect, full pile and no restoration of any kind.
