8'10" x 12'7" Moroccan Wool Rug | Beige Field with Black Lines and Dots | Brand New, Never Used

This is a brand new, never used hand-knotted rug woven in a Moroccan idiom: a quiet ivory to beige field, a scattering of charcoal squares, and a few long freehand lines that wander from end to end without ever repeating themselves. There is no border and no medallion, which is exactly the point. At 8'10" x 12'7" it covers a full seating group or a 8 seat dining table with the chairs pulled out, and the 1/2" wool pile gives it real weight underfoot rather than the flat feel of a machine made lookalike. As with every piece we sell, it ships with a certificate of authenticity confirming that it is 100% hand-knotted, and it sits comfortably alongside our other modern and contemporary rugs for buyers who want handwork without traditional formality.

Design and Motifs

The drawing is deliberately loose. Six or seven thin charcoal lines run on the diagonal across the field, crossing here and there to suggest half formed diamonds, then breaking off mid run the way a tribal weaver would improvise rather than follow a cartoon. Between them the field is dotted with small solid squares, spaced by eye so the rhythm shifts as your eye travels, denser toward the ends and airier through the middle. Short dashed bars step in from both long sides, echoing the classic Moroccan side markers, and both ends finish with a striped kilim panel and hand-twisted black and ivory tassel cords. The complete absence of a border keeps the field reading as one continuous plane, which is why this kind of drawing works so well next to modern furniture and why buyers who normally look at geometric rugs gravitate to it.

A Natural Ivory Field with Charcoal Black Accents

The ground is undyed natural wool, which is why it never reads as a flat printed white. In the full length photograph it sits as a warm ivory with a soft beige cast; under the pile close-up you can see faint cream and oatmeal striations running horizontally where different fleece lots meet, the honest abrash of a natural yarn. Against that, the linework is a deep charcoal black that softens to a smoky grey where the individual knots catch the light, and the square dots read slightly warmer and denser than the thin lines. The kilim ends bring in a light tan from the cotton warps, tying the black and ivory together. It is a two tone palette with more depth than the description suggests, and it holds its own against grey upholstery, walnut, brass and pale wood floors without competing with any of them.

Hand-Knotted in Pakistan

The original workshop tag is still attached and reads hand-knotted in Pakistan, 100% natural wool, Moroccan modern pattern. Pakistan's weaving centers have spent decades building on the Persian loom tradition, and today they produce a great deal of the world's best contemporary hand-knotted work, particularly in thick pile Moroccan and Berber styles where wool quality matters more than knot count. The back shows clean, even rows on a cotton foundation with no pulling at the selvages, the edges are wrapped and braided by hand, and the pile is cut thick enough to bloom without shedding its definition. If you are weighing the difference between this kind of piece and a classical city weave, our guide on Persian rugs vs Oriental rugs explains where each one earns its keep.
