8'2" x 10' Ziegler Chobi Rug | Beige All Over Floral Lattice | Dense Natural Wool, Made in Pakistan

This 8'2" x 10' Ziegler Chobi is the kind of piece people buy when they want a hand-knotted floor that calms a room instead of competing with it. The wool is dense and low cut, the drawing is soft and classical, and the whole palette sits in the sand and chalk range with just enough pale blue to keep it from reading flat. It is brand new and has never been on a floor, so the pile is full and even edge to edge, and the selvedges and fringe are still crisp as you can see in the corner and back photographs. Hand-knotted in Pakistan on a cotton foundation in natural wool, it lands squarely in the most useful of all sizes, which is why our 8x10 Oriental rugs move faster than any other shelf we keep. Every rug we sell ships with a certificate of authenticity confirming it is genuinely hand-knotted.

Design and Motifs

The field carries a true all over design with no central medallion, built from a repeating lattice of palmettes, scrolling vines and small 4 part rosette roundels that step evenly across all 10 feet of length. The roundels are the signature detail here, each one ringed by a fine beaded outline with a 4 petal cross at the center, and they alternate with blossom clusters and curling leaf tendrils so the eye never settles in one spot. A wide main border runs cartouche-style, pairing large serrated leaf fans with scalloped medallion panels and a corner roundel that resolves the pattern cleanly at all 4 corners. Narrow guard stripes of small rosettes frame the main band on both sides, and the inner surround is kept deliberately plain so the border reads as architecture rather than clutter. The drawing is slightly softened and gently irregular in the best way, the mark of a design cartoon interpreted by hand rather than printed.

A Study in Beige, Pale Blue and Peach

Beige is the main color, but it is not one beige. The ground moves between warm sand, pale wheat and a dusty camel tone, with soft horizontal variation through the field that gives the surface depth under daylight. Set into that ground are accents of pale light blue, the softest powder shade, used for the vine work, the leaf tips and the outlines of the roundels, which is what gives this rug its cool, airy feel. Peach appears in the small blossom centers and in the thin outlines around the roundels, warming the blue so the pairing never turns cold. A muted sage green carries the large leaf fans in the border and a few of the field palmettes, and the border ground lifts to a lighter ivory cream that frames the whole piece. Nothing is saturated and nothing shouts, which makes it a natural fit alongside oak, linen, plaster walls and other beige and ivory rugs.

Woven in Pakistan in the Ziegler Chobi Tradition

The Ziegler name goes back to a 19th century firm that commissioned Mahal-style weavings with the palette calmed down for Western interiors, and Pakistani workshops have carried that tradition forward with real skill, which is why Chobi weaving is now a benchmark for quality hand-knotted work. This is a finer weave example: the back photographs show tight, regular rows of knots with the pattern fully legible from the reverse, the sign of a weaver who kept consistent tension across the full 98 inch width. The pile is natural wool, clipped low so the drawing stays sharp, and it is dense enough underfoot to take years of traffic in a main room. Understanding where this piece sits in the wider family of handmade work is worth a few minutes, and our guide on how a Persian rug differs from an Oriental rug explains it plainly. What matters on the floor is simpler: good wool, honest knotting, and a pattern drawn by hand.
