This is a new, never used Ziegler Chobi hand-knotted in natural wool on a cotton foundation, drawn in the quiet antique manner that decorators keep asking for and importers rarely have in the right size. The field is a pale green washed almost to grey in places, carrying an unbroken lattice of ivory and beige rosettes from selvage to selvage, and the pile has been clipped low at about 1/4", which sharpens every outline and makes the rug sit flat under furniture. Design and Motifs

The field is built from a continuous grid of large ivory rosettes, each one an 8 petal flower head enclosed in a scalloped cartouche, linked at the corners by small octagonal rosettes so the whole surface reads as a woven tile floor rather than a single centered motif. Between the cartouches the weaver has filled the ground with fine vine scroll, curling leaves and half palmettes in taupe and soft brown, so there is no empty space anywhere and the pattern continues logically off the edges of the rug. The main border repeats a large beige palmette alternating with a green rosette, framed top and bottom by a delicate meandering guard stripe, and the corners resolve cleanly without the awkward truncation you see on hurried work. This is the kind of quiet, balanced repeat that makes all-over rug designs so easy to live with: nothing competes with a sofa, a coffee table or a dining set placed on top of it.

Light Green, Beige and Ivory Color Story

The ground color is a soft light green that shifts between sage and a faint aqua depending on the light, with visible abrash running horizontally through the field where the dye lots change, a hallmark of hand spun wool and natural dyes. Over that sit the rosettes in undyed ivory and pale cream, outlined in a warm beige that leans toward honey in sunlight and toward greige at night. Secondary detail comes in muted taupe and a light cocoa brown, and the innermost guard stripe picks up a slightly deeper green that reappears in the flat woven end finish. Chobi refers to the plant based dyes used for the palette, and the finished rugs are given a gentle wash that mellows the colors to the antique tone you see here. Construction is the traditional one: a cotton warp and weft, hand spun wool knotted row by row, then clipped short and finished with hand wrapped selvages and knotted ivory fringe, all visible in the back and edge photographs. The reverse shows an even, legible knot grid with the design reading clearly through to the foundation, which is the first thing to check on any Oriental rug.
