2'7" x 18'4" Pakistani Jaldar Bokhara Runner Rug | Pink Diamond Gul Lattice | Brand New, Never Used
Runners at this length are not something you order to measure, they turn up now and then and then they are gone. This Jaldar Bokhara measures 2'7" x 18'4", hand-knotted in Pakistan with a 3/8" wool pile on a cotton foundation, and it has never been walked on. The pile still stands upright, the ivory fringe is untrimmed and even, and the selvedges are tight the whole way down. It is the piece you buy when you have a long hallway runner problem that nothing off the shelf solves, since most stock runners stop at 12 or 14 feet. Every rug we sell ships with a certificate of authenticity confirming the weave, materials and origin.
Please Note About the Photographs:
Several photos show the runner with one end still rolled, because 18'4" will not fit in a single indoor frame. The studio shot reads cooler and slightly lavender, while the floor shots read warmer rose; the true tone sits between the two. Nothing visible in these images is wear, fading or damage, and the runner is professionally steamed and pressed before it ships.
Design and Motifs
The field is pure Jaldar drawing: a continuous lattice of elongated diamonds marching the full 18'4", each diamond outlined by a fine stepped hook line and each one centered on an 8 petal star rosette or a small stepped gul. The rosettes alternate direction row by row, so the lattice reads as a woven chain rather than a repeated stamp, and small stacked lozenges and barbed tulip heads fill the triangles between the diamond points. The border system is unusually generous for a runner only 31" wide: a main band of small octagonal guls set in a reciprocal ground, flanked on both sides by ivory guard stripes carrying running diamond and dot chains, then a narrow pink outer edge that keeps the whole length visually straight. Both ends finish in a flat woven skirt with hand tied ivory fringe, exactly as a traditional Bokhara should.
A Rose Pink Field With Tan Brown and Charcoal
The ground is a soft rose pink that shifts across the length, lighter and blush toned in some passages, deeper and dustier in others, which is the natural abrash of hand dyed wool rather than any flaw. Within that field the diamonds alternate between the pale pink ground tone and a dark charcoal aubergine, and the stepped outlines are picked out in a grey blue that cools the pink and keeps the lattice crisp. The star rosettes are drawn in ivory and a warm sandy tan, with small accents of deep brown at the tips. The borders carry the tan brown half of the palette: a honeyed tan ground under ivory and charcoal guls, clearly visible in the close detail shots where the ruler sits across the weave. For anyone shopping deliberately for pink and purple rugs, this is a quiet, dusty pink that sits comfortably with cream walls, oak floors and brass hardware rather than shouting.
Woven in Pakistan in the Bokhara Tradition
Bokhara is a Turkmen design language, built on the gul, the repeating tribal flower head of Central Asia, and it was carried into the workshops of Pakistan where it became one of the most finely woven traditions in the modern hand-knotted trade. Jaldar refers to the better grade of that work: a tighter knot count, cleaner drawing and the use of good quality wool that takes a soft sheen as it is walked on. You can see the weave in the ruler photo, where the knot rows run straight and dense across a narrow 31" width, a level of discipline that is hard to hold over 18 feet of length without the runner wandering out of true. This is a genuine hand-knotted Oriental rug, one weaver, one loom, with a wool pile that will take decades of traffic in a corridor or up a staircase and simply polish rather than wear out.
