7'9" x 9'6" Chobi Peshawar Rug | Zigler All Over Floral Design | Brand New Natural Wool

This 7'9" x 9'6" Chobi Peshawar rug is a brand new, hand-knotted piece in natural wool on a cotton foundation, woven in the Zigler manner that collectors associate with softened, sun-faded antique room-size weaving. The pile is short and tightly clipped, so the drawing stays crisp while the surface keeps the dry, chalky handle that gives these rugs their vintage look straight off the loom. At roughly 8x10 it is a true main-room size, and it reads as a quiet, warm floor rather than a statement pattern, which is exactly why decorators keep reaching for this Oriental rug type. Every rug we ship travels with a certificate of authenticity confirming it is genuinely hand-knotted, along with its size, material and origin.

Design and Motifs

The field carries an all over design with no medallion: large fan-shaped palmettes, 8 petal rosettes, small cross flowers and budding sprays linked by a thin scrolling vine that travels corner to corner without repeating obviously. The scale is generous, so furniture sitting on the rug never chops the pattern into fragments. Framing it is a wide ivory main border of alternating lotus palmettes and leafy arabesques, held between narrow guard stripes of running vine. The corners resolve cleanly, and the drawing softens slightly at the ends where the weavers let the vine trail, a small hand-drawn irregularity that separates a knotted rug from a printed one. This is the Zigler vocabulary at its most livable, formal enough for a dining room, calm enough for a bedroom.

A Peach and Gold Palette With Muted Accents

The ground is a warm peach that shifts toward camel and light brown as the light moves across the pile, one of the friendliest neutrals in handmade weaving because it flatters both cool greys and warm woods. Against it the vines and palmettes are drawn in golden beige and pale ivory, so the pattern is felt more than shouted. The accents are what give the rug life up close: soft sage green leaves, dusty rose flower heads and small points of deep indigo blue scattered through the field and border, visible in the detail photographs. The wide border lightens to a creamy gold, which lifts the whole rug and keeps the peach from reading heavy. Buyers searching peach area rugs rarely find this tone in a genuine hand-knotted weave at this size.

Woven in Peshawar, Pakistan

Peshawar has grown into one of the most accomplished hand-knotting centers in the world for Zigler and Chobi weaving, working with hand-spun wool, natural dye recipes and a deliberate wash that mellows the colors before the rug ever leaves the workshop. The back of this piece, shown in the fold and tag photographs, is even and legible, with straight rows, a tidy selvage and a cotton foundation that keeps a rug this size lying flat. The wool takes dye unevenly by design, producing the gentle abrash across the field that antique collectors look for. If you are shopping 8 x 10 rugs, this is the workmanship level that separates a decade-long purchase from a disposable one.
