7' x 9'9" Super Kazak Oriental Rug | All-Over Diamond Medallions | Ruby Red & Ivory | Brand New
Laid out flat, this 7' x 9'9" Super Kazak shows the type at its tidiest: a deep ruby red field carrying an offset lattice of stepped diamond medallions, closed in by a broad ivory main border and a stack of narrow guard stripes. It is brand new and never used, hand-knotted in silky wool on a cotton foundation, with the pile clipped low enough that every outline stays sharp and the drawing never muddies. Super is the top grade within this family of hand-knotted Oriental rug weaving, and the wool is where you see it: lustrous, springy, and dyed in tones that already look settled rather than raw. It covers a seating group the way the best 7x10 rugs do, with the border still reading clearly past the sofa legs, and it ships with a certificate of authenticity.
Design and Motifs
The field is filled with stepped, hook-edged diamond medallions set in an offset lattice, each one built up in concentric bands of color around a small rosette at the center, with latch-hook arrows pointing off the tips. No two neighbouring diamonds repeat the same color, so the eye keeps moving across the field instead of locking onto a center. The gaps between them are sown with 8 pointed stars, small cruciform flower heads and sprigs, which is the detail that separates careful drawing from filler. The ivory main border alternates hexagonal rosette cartouches with palmette-like flower heads, and it is framed by a saffron-gold stripe of small stylized blossoms, a navy arrowhead stripe, and a pale blue outer guard carrying a running X and flower motif. Straight lines, stepped corners and honest angles throughout, which is exactly what buyers looking for geometric Oriental rugs come for.
Ruby Red, Ivory and the Cool Accents
The ground is a deep ruby red with a faint, natural variation in tone across the width, the gentle banding that comes from hand-spun yarn taking dye slightly differently from batch to batch. Against it, the medallions run through navy, a clear sky blue, soft teal, apricot, saffron gold and plain ivory, most of them outlined in a sage green that cools the whole composition and keeps the red from shouting. Small accents of aubergine and dark maroon sit inside the ivory diamonds, and the scattered star and flower fillers pick up green, pale blue and ochre. The main border is a warm cream that lifts to buttery gold in raking light, with coral pink, red and navy drawing inside the rosettes. The fringe and warp ends are ivory. In short: a red and ivory rug with enough blue and green in the detail to sit comfortably with existing furniture rather than dictate it.
Super Kazak Weaving: Made in Pakistan
The Kazak vocabulary of hooked diamonds, stepped medallions and bold borders comes out of the old Caucasian weaving villages, and it is Pakistan's workshops that carry it today at the highest standard. The Super grade means hand-spun wool, a finer and more even knot than standard Kazak work, and a shorter clip so the geometry stays legible, and the back of this rug shows that discipline: regular rows, clean knot definition, no pulled or wandering lines. The selvages are tightly wrapped, the ends are secured, and the rug lies flat without coaxing. Handle the pile and you feel why the trade calls this wool silky, a smooth, slightly glossy fleece that takes dye deeply and burnishes rather than dulls with foot traffic, which is what makes a new piece like this a sensible floor for a busy room.
