8' x 10' Sino Tabriz Rug | Ivory Field with Sage Green Medallion | Wool & Silk Pile

This is a brand new, never used hand-knotted Oriental rug woven in wool with silk highlights, drawn to the classical Tabriz medallion cartoon and finished with a low, tightly clipped pile. The ivory ground carries an unbroken flowering vine from end to end, the sage green medallion sits dead center, and the salmon spandrels close the composition at the 4 corners. At 8' x 10' it is the standard living room and dining room footprint, one of the most requested proportions in 8x10 area rugs, and it ships with a certificate of authenticity confirming it is genuinely hand-knotted.

Design and Motifs

The layout is a full classical medallion and corner scheme. A lobed sage green medallion holds a salmon inner cartouche and a small navy core filled with an 8 petal rosette, and each end of the medallion finishes in a slim pendant that reaches out into the field. Around it the ivory ground is packed with curved vine scroll, serrated saz leaves, palmettes and small rosettes, all of it mirrored across both axes rather than repeated as a simple grid, so the eye keeps finding new blossoms. The 4 corner spandrels are worked in salmon with navy outlines and carry the same flowering vine at a larger scale. The main border is sage green with alternating palmettes and curling leaves, held between multiple narrow guard stripes in ivory, salmon and navy, and the whole drawing stays crisp because the pile is cut short enough to hold the fine curves.

Ivory, Sage Green and Salmon Color Story

The field is a warm ivory, closer to cream than to stark white, which is what keeps this piece easy to live with against oak floors and neutral walls. The dominant accent is a soft sage green, used for the medallion, the main border and hundreds of small leaves scattered through the field, and it is a muted, dusty green rather than a bright one. Salmon and pink tones carry the spandrels, the inner medallion and many of the larger palmettes, warming the whole surface, while navy blue does the structural work: it outlines the spandrels, edges the guard stripes and darkens the medallion core so the center reads clearly from across the room. Rust and terracotta reds appear only in the small flower heads. The silk content in the pile sits in the blossoms and leaves, and it shows as a visible change in sheen as you walk around the rug, brightening from one direction and going matte from the other.

Origin, Weaving Town and Quality

This rug is honestly made in China, which is where the Sino Tabriz category comes from: workshop weavers trained on the Tabriz cartoon tradition, working the same medallion and corner formula, the same curved vine drawing and the same wool with silk highlights, on a cotton foundation. The weave here is tight and even, the ivory warps and knotted fringe in the close-up photo show a clean, well finished end, and the short clip is what allows this much detail per square inch to stay legible. Among wool and silk rugs in this price band, a Sino Tabriz gives you the formal drawing of a fine workshop piece with a hard wearing wool surface, and since this one has never been on a floor, the pile is at full height and the colors are at full strength.
