This 9'3" x 12'6" flat weave is a faithful reading of the French Aubusson tradition: no pile, no border, and a single ivory ground carrying a continuous garden of vines from one end to the other. The weave is a true tapestry, hand-woven weft by weft over a cotton foundation, which gives the surface the smooth, almost painted quality you can see in the close-up photographs. Because there is no pile to crush, it sits very low under furniture and doors, and it is one of the few large formats that works equally well under a dining table or in a bright room where a heavy pile would feel too dense.
