9'7" x 11'8" Zigler Chobi Oriental Rug | Light Green & Gold Rosette Lattice | Natural Wool, New

This piece measures 9'7" x 11'8", a true room-size format that covers a seating group or a full dining set without crowding the walls. It is hand-knotted in natural hand-spun wool on a cotton foundation, finished with a soft antique wash that pulls the greens and golds back to a quiet, lived-in tone. Among current production Oriental rugs, the Zigler Chobi group is the one decorators reach for when a room needs pattern without noise. It is brand new and never used, and it ships with a certificate of authenticity confirming the weave, the wool and the origin.

Design and Motifs

The field carries an all-over lattice design built from 8 petal rosettes set on a grid, each one ringed by elongated hexagonal cartouches and small hooked leaf forms that lock the repeat together. There is no central medallion, so the drawing runs edge to edge and reads the same from every seat in the room. The main border alternates compartments of small blossoms and rosette sprays, framed by narrow guard stripes of running dashes and dots, with a second outer band of squared panels that gives the rug a broad, architectural frame. Corners are drawn to resolve cleanly, which is the mark of a well-set cartoon rather than a stretched one.

A Faded Light Green and Gold Palette

The ground is a faded light green, closer to sage or celadon than to a saturated green, and it shifts gently between cooler and warmer passes across the width. That gentle horizontal striation is abrash, the natural variation of hand-spun, small-batch dyed wool, and it is what keeps a large surface from looking printed. Over it, the rosettes and cartouches are drawn in soft apricot gold with paler ivory outlines, while a muted grey-taupe shadows some of the hexagons and gives the lattice depth. The borders lighten to a sandy ivory, and the wool carries a low sheen in the pile close-ups. It is a quiet palette that sits comfortably with white oak, linen, warm greys and brass.

Zigler Chobi Weaving, Made in Pakistan

Zigler Chobi rugs are woven today by the workshops of Pakistan, largely around Lahore and Peshawar, and the standard there for this class of weaving is high. Chobi means wood, a reference to the plant and vegetable dyes used to color the hand-spun wool before knotting. Each knot is tied by hand on a cotton warp and beaten down row by row, then the finished rug is washed and sheared to give the pile its soft, slightly worn hand, visible in the fold and pile photographs. The back shows an even, legible knot face with straight lines and a flat, supple handle, and the sides and hand-tied fringe are finished in matching tone. If you are weighing this against a Persian piece, our guide on the difference between Persian and Oriental rugs explains where each tradition earns its price.
