9' x 12'7" Moroccan Design Rug | Ivory & Brown Ombre Diamonds | Hand-Knotted Wool, Never Used

This is a room size Moroccan design piece, hand-knotted in Pakistan from 100% natural wool and finished with a thick 1/2" pile that you can feel underfoot the moment you step on it. The drawing is deliberately loose: big concentric diamonds stacked up the length of the field, outlined in caramel, chocolate and smoky charcoal against an undyed ivory ground that shifts toward taupe as the light moves. It reads as one of the cleanest modern and contemporary hand-knotted rugs we carry, quiet enough for a minimal interior and graphic enough to hold a large open floor on its own. The rug is brand new, never used, in perfect condition, and ships with our certificate of authenticity confirming it is hand-knotted and 100% wool.

Please Note About the Photographs:

One of the images is a styled room visualization included to show how a 9' x 12'7" rug of this design sits under seating. The flat overhead shot, the angled shot, the back view, the fringe detail and the pile close-ups are all photographs of this exact rug.

Design and Motifs

The field carries no formal border, which is the heart of the Moroccan tradition this design follows. Instead, 5 large diamond medallions run down the center axis, each built from 3 or 4 concentric outlines that taper to a single small lozenge where one diamond meets the next. Half diamonds break against both long sides so the lattice looks cut from a longer cloth, and faint diagonal strokes radiate from the junctions like compass lines. Drawing is done freehand on the loom, so no 2 diamonds are identical and the lines wobble just enough to prove a human hand set every knot. Both ends finish with a flat-woven zigzag band, small 8 point star rosettes and thick hand-twisted ivory fringe tassels. Buyers who like this kind of clean, angular repeat tend to look next at our wider selection of geometric rugs.

Ivory, Taupe and Ombre Brown Coloring

The ground is natural undyed wool, closer to warm ivory in the overhead photograph and settling into oatmeal taupe in the close-ups, with small variations where one batch of fleece met another. Against that, the diamond outlines are worked in an ombre blend rather than a flat color: a single line will start as pale camel, warm into caramel and rust brown, then deepen into charcoal and near black before fading back again. Look at the pile close-ups and you can see the individual strands of brown, tan and smoke grey twisted together, which is what produces that gradient instead of a hard edge. A few cool slate grey flecks sit in the lower diamonds and keep the palette from going entirely warm. The result is a soft neutral rug that works over pale wood, limestone and concrete, and it sits comfortably with the rest of our beige and ivory rugs.

Hand-Knotted in Pakistan: Weave and Quality

Pakistan's weaving centers have built their reputation on exactly this kind of work: coarse-gauge, high-pile, hand-knotted wool pieces drawn in the Moroccan idiom and made to be lived on rather than framed. The back view shows an even, well-packed grid with straight rows and no pulling at the corners, and the rolled edge shot shows how the selvage has been wrapped tight so the sides will hold their shape under furniture. Wool is 100% natural, hand-spun, with the lanolin left in, so it stays resilient and sheds dirt instead of holding it, and at 1/2" the pile has real body without going shaggy. This is a true Oriental rug in construction, knot by knot on a loom, and at 9' x 12'7" it covers a full seating group with the wool to survive decades of it.

This piece is the only one of it, so the things worth knowing about it are particular to it. If you want to talk through the size, the colour in your own light, or the weave, speak to someone here first.
