This is a large, formal, room-filling Oriental rug measuring 9'1" x 12'5", hand-knotted in Pakistan in the classical Tabriz medallion style with a wool pile on a cotton foundation. The weave is fine and even, the drawing of the vines stays crisp all the way into the corners, and the pile still carries its full original height because the rug has never been used. Design and Motifs

The layout is the textbook Tabriz formula, executed with real discipline. A lobed central medallion sits dead center, filled with an 8 petal rosette and a ring of curling leaf and palmette forms, and it finishes top and bottom in slim pendant cartouches. Around it the field runs as a continuous all over floral, with thin scrolling vines, split leaves, cloud band tendrils and small rosettes covering every inch of ground, so the eye never hits an empty patch. The 4 corner spandrels repeat the medallion palette and pull the composition into a neat frame. Five borders finish the rug: a wide main band of alternating palmettes and flowering stems, flanked by narrow floral guard stripes and an outer meander, all drawn with curved lines rather than the angular village shorthand you see on coarser weaves.

A Deep Red Field with Salmon Pink, Blue and Green

The ground is a deep, slightly cool red, closer to claret than to orange red, and it reads darker in the corners where the pile leans away from the light. Against it the medallion and the spandrels are a soft salmon pink, shading toward blush and rose in the inner rings, which is what gives this rug its unusually gentle, almost antique-washed look for a brand new piece. The main border repeats that same salmon ground so the frame and the medallion speak to each other. Blue does the detail work: petrol and slate blue in the guard stripes, lighter sky blue inside individual flower heads, and deep navy outlines that sharpen the leaves.
