This is a finely woven wool and silk Oriental rug drawn to a classic Tabriz cartoon, with a warm beige field, a radiating star medallion and gray spandrels set into all 4 corners. The pile is clipped low so the silk highlights sit slightly proud of the wool and catch the light along the vine stems, which is what gives the field its quiet shimmer in the close-up photographs. At 9'1" x 12'4" it lands in the most useful class of 9x12 rugs, large enough to carry a full seating group with all legs on the rug. The piece is brand new, never walked on, and ships with a certificate of authenticity.

Design and Motifs

The center holds a layered star medallion built from pointed gray petals over apricot cartouches, ringed by small ivory buds and closed with a tiny 8 petal rosette at the heart. From there the drawing opens into a full all-over field of curved vines, serrated acanthus leaves, split palmettes and clusters of small 4 petal blossoms, all mirrored across both axes so the rug reads correctly from either end. Each of the 4 corners carries a gray spandrel with a gold vase and scrolling arabesque inside it. The main border alternates rust palmettes with rosette bouquets between fine brown outlines, and is held on both sides by narrow guard stripes of running floral meander, a border scheme that keeps a big field from looking empty.

A Beige Field with Brown, Rust and Soft Gray Accents

The ground is a warm beige that leans toward golden camel where the light strikes it and cools to sand in shade. Over it the floral work runs through cinnamon brown, burnt rust and terracotta, lifted with gold and buttery yellow in the small rosettes and shaded down to a deep coffee brown in the outlines. The distinguishing note is the soft gray, almost lavender in tone, used in the medallion petals, the corner spandrels and scattered leaves, a cool accent that keeps the warm palette from turning orange.
