10'1" x 13' Tibetan Modern Transitional Rug | Light Green & Gold Brown Blossoming Vine | Fine Wool, Recent Weave

This is a quiet rug on a large scale: a 10'1" x 13' hand-knotted Tibetan piece with a soft light green field, a wide plain brown surround, and a field drawing so fine it reads almost as texture until you stand over it. The pile is fine wool, low and level, with a faint sheen that shifts as you walk past it, and the whole rug sits somewhere between traditional drawing and modern and contemporary restraint, which is exactly what makes it easy to live with. At 131 square feet it covers a full seating group or a long dining table without crowding either, and it is one of the calmest options among our 10x13 hand-knotted rugs. Condition is perfect, the weave is recent, and every rug ships with a certificate of authenticity confirming it is genuinely hand-knotted.

Please Note About the Photographs:

The soft lines and shading visible in the overhead photograph are fold marks and light shadows from flat storage on the pallet. They are not wear, not fading and not damage. They relax once the rug is laid flat in the room, and every rug leaves us professionally steamed and pressed before shipping.

Design and Motifs

The field carries an all-over pattern of slender blossoming branches, each one rising from a single stem and breaking into paired shoots, small buds and open 5 petal flowers. The repeat is built in staggered rows so the eye never locks onto a grid, and between the branches sit scattered rosettes and leaf pairs that fill the ground without thickening it. There is no medallion, no corner spandrel and no busy guard stripe: the drawing simply runs to the edge of the field and stops against a wide, completely plain border, which is what gives the rug its modern posture. The close-up photographs show how lightly the pattern is drawn, with lines barely a few knots wide, so from standing height the field reads as a soft mist of flowering twigs rather than a formal floral. It is a design that works under furniture, because nothing important gets hidden by a sofa leg.

Light Green Field and Gold Brown Drawing

The ground is a pale sage green, closer to celadon than to grass, with a grey cast under daylight and a warmer, almost oatmeal tone under lamplight. Against it the branches are worked in a gold brown that sits between camel and honey, with slightly lighter tips where the wool takes the light and deeper caramel notes in the thicker stems. The border is a solid band of that same brown family, a shade or two deeper and faintly striated across its width, a natural abrash in the wool rather than a drawn line, and it frames the green field the way a mat frames a print. The palette is only two colors, which is why it behaves so well: green and brown, one cool and one warm, with no red, no black and no strong accent to fight existing upholstery. Pale oak, walnut, linen, cream plaster and brass all sit comfortably on it.

Tibetan Weaving and Quality of Construction

Tibetan weaving is one of the strongest traditions in the modern hand-knotted world, and this piece shows why. It is tied on a cotton foundation with a fine wool pile, the knotting is even from selvage to selvage, and the folded corner and edge photographs show a dense, tightly packed pile with a clean straight side finish and a back that reads uniform across the whole width. The wool is high-altitude fleece, springy and lustrous, and it has been sheared low so the fine branch drawing stays legible instead of blurring into the pile. The back tag identifies it as a genuine hand-woven Oriental rug, knotted by hand row by row rather than tufted or machine made, and at 10'1" x 13' that means many months on the loom. Recent weave, no wear, no repair, ready to go straight down in the room.

Ask about this rug

This piece is the only one of it, so the things worth knowing about it are particular to it. If you want to talk through the size, the colour in your own light, or the weave, speak to someone here first.
