8' x 10'1" Jaipur Oriental Rug | Transitional All Over Floral Vine | Hand-Knotted Wool
This is a brand new, never used hand-knotted Jaipur rug measuring 8' x 10'1", woven in wool on a cotton foundation and drawn in a soft, transitional palette of golden beige, peach, coral, rust and sage green. The weave is fine enough to hold a curved vine cleanly, the pile is clipped low so the drawing stays crisp, and the handle is supple rather than stiff. At just over 10 feet long it sits comfortably in the standard 8x10 footprint and makes a quieter, warmer alternative to the usual red and navy classics, which is why pieces like this move quickly among buyers shopping 8x10 Oriental rugs. Every rug we ship leaves with a certificate of authenticity confirming it is genuine hand-knotted work.
Please Note About the Photographs:
The flat overhead photograph reads a shade cooler and lighter than the rug actually is. The floor shots and close-up details are the truer record: the field is a warm golden beige leaning toward peach, with apricot and coral tones that deepen under lamplight. Nothing in these images is wear or fading.
Design and Motifs
The field carries a continuous all over floral design with no medallion, so there is no single focal point to fight the furniture. A dark brown vine scrolls through the whole field in long, lazy arcs, branching into round rosettes, open lotus blossoms, small tulips and curled serrated leaves. Look closely at the field detail and you will see the weaver varied almost every flower head: one rosette is outlined in black and filled with rust, the next is pale ivory with a green heart, the next a faded rose. Three borders frame the field, a wide main band of palmettes and arabesque leaves flanked by two narrow guard stripes, with a thin orange outline that separates them and gives the whole composition a crisp edge. The 4 corners are resolved properly, with the palmette drawing turning the corner rather than being cut off, which is the first thing to check on any transitional piece of this size.
Color
The ground is a warm golden beige, closer to pale camel or honey than to white, and it shifts with the angle of the light because the wool takes a visible sheen. Over that ground the drawing is worked in peach, apricot and soft coral, with deeper rust and brick notes in the larger palmettes and small passages of dusty rose and mauve in the blossoms. Sage and celadon green supply the leaves and stems, cool enough to keep the warm tones from going sweet, and a true black is used sparingly as an outline on the vine and on the leaf tips, which is what gives the pattern its definition. The main border sits a half step darker than the field, a mushroom and rose tone, so the frame reads clearly without a hard color break. There is no harsh contrast anywhere in this rug, which makes it an easy match for oak and walnut floors and for rooms already carrying cream, taupe or bronze. Buyers working in this range usually look at beige and ivory area rugs first and then come back for the extra depth that peach and coral add.
Jaipur Weaving and Quality
Jaipur, in Rajasthan, is one of the great hand-knotting centers of India, and India is where most of the world's good contemporary hand-knotted work is now made. We say that without apology: the looms there run fine warps, the designers draw classical floral repeats with real fluency, and the wool is spun and washed to a standard that holds up. This piece is honest Jaipur work, made in India, and it belongs to the broader family of the hand-knotted Oriental rug tradition rather than to any single Persian town. The back photograph tells the story: even knot rows, no slubs or skipped wefts, a flat clean selvage and hand-tied ivory fringe. Pile height is low and tight, the kind of surface that takes traffic and vacuuming without shedding its drawing, and the rug lies perfectly flat with square corners straight off the roll.
