This is a brand new, never used 10' x 14' hand-knotted Jaipur rug, made in India on a cotton foundation with a 3/8" wool pile. It is a quiet, confident piece: an ivory field carrying an all-over floral vine, framed by a wide soft green border and finished with hand-tied ivory fringe at both ends. At 120" x 168" it covers a full great room or a long formal dining table with chairs pulled out, and the low, evenly clipped pile means it sits flat under furniture without bulking at the doorways. Design and Motifs

The field is drawn as a classic all-over floral design rather than a single central medallion, so the eye travels the whole 14 foot length instead of stopping in the middle. Thin vine scrolls run the length of the rug and throw off serrated palmettes, 8 petal rosettes, tulip heads and little sprays of 5 dot blossoms. Along the center line sit a pair of curled cartouche forms, outlined in brick red and filled with pale ivory, that read almost like open scroll ends, a drawing device borrowed from the Agra and Sultanabad workshop tradition. Larger sunburst palmettes in wheat brown and olive anchor the vertical axis at regular intervals, and the corners of the field are filled with leaf clusters rather than left plain. The border scheme is a triple frame: a broad main band of lobed quatrefoil medallions and small stars, flanked on both sides by narrow zigzag guard stripes in brick red with soft green infill, a crisp geometric counterpoint to all the curved line inside. Nothing repeats mechanically, and the small variations from one repeat to the next are the honest signature of hand work.

Ivory, Wheat Brown and Soft Green

The palette is deliberately low contrast, which is why this rug works in rooms where a red and navy piece would take over. The field is a warm ivory that shifts toward cream under lamplight and toward pale wheat in daylight, with the wool's natural luster giving it a faint sheen as you cross the room. Over that ground the vines are drawn in wheat brown and a dusty tan, the palmettes in olive and a mellow gold, and the smaller leaves in a fresh spring green that keeps the whole surface from going flat. Brick red appears only as outline: the cartouche edges, the tiny rosette centers and the zigzag guard stripes, used in the smallest quantity of any color here and all the more effective for it. The wide main border steps into a soft celadon green with pale ivory and khaki figures floating on it, so the frame reads a shade cooler and deeper than the field.
