At 10'1" x 19'5" this is a genuine palace-scale floor piece, nearly 20 feet of hand-knotted wool intended for a great room, a long open-plan living and dining space, or a gallery corridor where a standard 9x12 simply disappears. The weave is fine and even, the 1/8" wool pile is clipped low so the drawing stays crisp, and the cotton foundation lies flat without buckling over that length. What sets it apart from most rugs this big is restraint: a pale, quiet field, soft taupe and ivory drawing, and no heavy contrast anywhere, which is exactly why it sits under furniture without fighting it. Design and Motifs

The drawing is classic Oushak: a loose, breathing all-over floral design with no central medallion, so the pattern reads the same from any seat in the room. Large serrated palmettes and shield-shaped blossoms are set out in staggered rows across the field, linked by thin vine tracery, angular leaf sprays and small cruciform and star fillers that keep the open ground from looking empty. Look closely at the palmettes in the detail photo and you can see the interior drawing, tiny hooked leaves and stepped outlines worked in a second shade so each flower has depth rather than a flat silhouette. The main border carries an alternating rosette and leaf meander between narrow guard stripes, and the corners resolve cleanly, with the border turning the angle properly rather than being cut short. Small eight-pointed stars sit in each of the 4 corners of the outer band, a quiet finishing touch you only notice once the rug is down.

A Field of Soft Gray, Powder Blue and Taupe

The ground is a muted gray-blue, closer to weathered denim than to a true sky blue, and it moves gently across the width with the faint horizontal banding that comes from hand-dyed wool worked in separate lots. Against it the ornament is drawn almost entirely in neutrals: warm taupe and mushroom for the palmettes, chalky ivory and cream for the outlines and smaller blossoms, with a mocha brown appearing in the larger flower heads to give the field its only real weight. The border steps down into sand and pale beige, which softens the edge of the rug instead of framing it with a hard dark line. The overall effect is a low-contrast, dusty palette that pairs easily with grays, whites, natural oak, brass and washed linen, and it photographs beautifully in daylight.
