10' x 13' Persian Tabriz Design Rug | Ivory Floral Medallion | Machine Woven, New
This 10' x 13' rug is made in Persia to a classic Tabriz cartoon, and the first thing you notice in person is how sharp the drawing stays across a field this wide. It is machine woven rather than hand-knotted, and that is exactly why a pattern of this density, an 8 point star medallion floating on a cream ground packed with flowering vine, lands at a small fraction of what the same size costs in a hand-knotted piece. The pile is low, even and tightly set, so dining chairs slide without catching, the rug lies flat from day one and everyday cleaning takes minutes. It is brand new, never used and in perfect condition, and it ships with a certificate documenting its origin, size and construction. Among 10x13 Persian rugs this is the practical choice for a busy, formally furnished room.
Design and Motifs
The center holds a large 8 point star medallion built up in concentric rings: a small rosette at the core, a band of white arabesque scrollwork around it, then a broad zone of tiny leaf and blossom fill that reads almost like embroidery at close range. A cusped pendant hangs from the top and bottom of the medallion, each one crowned with a small palmette, and the medallion's points break outward into curling split leaves so the shape never looks stamped on. The surrounding field is a true allover composition rather than an open ground, with large lobed palmettes, feathery serrated leaves, boteh forms and slender flowering stems repeating in mirrored pairs across all 4 quarters. The main border carries big teardrop boteh cartouches alternating with palmette clusters, set between a pair of narrow guard stripes of running vine, and the 4 corners resolve cleanly with the motif turned to fit rather than cut off.
A Warm Ivory Ground with Teal, Gold and Burgundy
The field is a warm ivory, closer to cream and unbleached parchment than to a cold white, which is what keeps the pattern from looking harsh under lamp light. The medallion sits on a salmon rust and terracotta ground shaded toward soft tan at the edges, with deep burgundy pockets and ivory arabesques cutting through it. Scattered across the field, the flowerheads pick up peacock teal and aqua, saffron gold, sage and olive green, aubergine, navy and a soft rose, each blossom outlined in a darker tone so the colors stay separate instead of blurring. The main border reverses the scheme entirely, running a deep chocolate brown shaded with navy, with ivory boteh outlines and pale blue and gold flower fill glowing against it, and the outer guard band returns to salmon. Ivory fringe finishes both ends. If you are shopping ivory and beige area rugs, this one brings far more color into a room than the photographs of the full rug suggest.
The Tabriz Design and How This Rug Is Built
Tabriz sits in northwest Persia and has been the country's most influential design center for centuries, known above all for the curved line: medallions drawn with compass precision, vines that flow rather than step, and borders that turn the corner properly. That drawing tradition is what this rug reproduces, from the 8 point star to the boteh border, working from the same style of cartoon the city's studios use. The difference is the construction, which is machine woven in Persia rather than knotted by hand, giving a uniform low pile, dead straight sides and a consistent color register across all 13 feet of length. For a buyer who wants the look of the Tabriz school over a large floor, in a playroom, a rental, a lake house or a dining room where spills are a given, that trade is the whole point. Hand-knotted Persian Tabriz rugs remain the collector piece; this one is the everyday version of the same picture.
