12' x 16'3" Ziegler Oversize Rug | Brown Field, Sage Green Border | Natural Ghazni Wool, Made in Pakistan

This is a big, calm, quietly confident room rug. At 12' x 16'3" it covers a full great room with furniture legs on, and the drawing is deliberately soft: a warm brown field, an unbroken carpet of small flowers and vines, and a wide sage green border that cools the whole thing down. The pile is natural hand-spun wool with the gentle abrash and lustre you can see in the close-up photographs, and the weave is even edge to edge with no medallion to fight your furniture layout. It ships new and never used, with a certificate of authenticity, and it belongs in the same conversation as our other oversize 12x16 rugs.

Design and Motifs

The field is a true all over floral design, built on a thin vine lattice that repeats across the full 16'3" length without a central medallion. Inside each compartment sit ivory palmettes, small 4 petal blossoms, stacked square blocks and split leaf sprays, with the larger cream palmettes spaced out at regular intervals so the eye has somewhere to rest. The main sage border carries an alternating run of 8 petal rosettes and smaller gold flower heads, framed on both sides by narrow gold guard stripes of scrolling vine and tiny leaf clusters. The corners resolve cleanly, the outer guard band picks the brown of the field back up, and the whole layout reads as one continuous garden rather than a set of separate panels.

Color: Warm Brown Field Against Sage Green

The field is a warm mid brown with a rust and terracotta undertone that shifts with the light, going coppery where the pile lies one way and softer camel where it lies the other. Against it the drawing is worked in cream and ivory, honey gold, muted teal green and small strikes of deep burgundy, which are the only high contrast notes in the rug and are used sparingly. The wide main border is a dusty sage green, cool enough to balance all that warmth, and it is separated from the field by clear honey gold guard bands. There is no harsh white and no bright primary anywhere, so the palette sits comfortably with oak floors, cream upholstery, walnut furniture and the deep teal seating shown in the room photograph.

Origin and Weaving Quality

Made in Pakistan, where the Ziegler style is woven today by some of the most consistent hand-knotting workshops in the trade. The pile is natural Ghazni wool, hand-spun so the yarn takes dye unevenly and gives the field its soft tonal movement, and it is knotted onto a cotton foundation at a firm, regular density. Look at the back and folded corner photographs: the knot rows are straight, the selvedges are tight and the pile is cut to a medium height that will hold up under heavy traffic for decades. This is a serious, well made Oriental rug in a size most weavers never attempt, finished with hand-knotted fringe at both ends and brand new off the loom.
