The composition is built around a tall oval medallion on an ivory ground, holding a loose bouquet of open roses, buds and trailing leaves at its centre. That oval is ringed by concentric bands of beading, ribbon twist and a fine rose garland, then set against deep terracotta side panels that run the length of the field and give the drawing its contrast. Above and below the oval sit small circular cartouches, each carrying a single rose spray inside a ribbon frame, marking the centre line at both ends. The four quarters of the field open into pale green and ivory shield-shaped reserves filled with scrolling acanthus, curling leaf tips and cornucopia forms rendered in tan, gold and soft brown, the classic Louis XV vocabulary of the Aubusson ateliers.
