8' x 11'5" Persian Najafabad Rug | Coral Orange Field, Ivory Floral Border | Navy Medallion
Laid out at 8' x 11'5", this Persian Najafabad rug sets a soft coral orange field inside a wide ivory border, and that contrast is what the whole piece is built on. The pile is dense 3/8" wool on a cotton foundation, hand-knotted knot by knot, and the drawing follows the curvilinear central Persian idiom that weavers around Najafabad have worked in for generations. Condition is excellent, with even pile from selvage to selvage, tight navy guard stripes and clean ivory fringe at both ends. It ships with a certificate of authenticity.

The faint diagonal lines and soft shadows across the field are fold marks from flat pallet storage. They are not wear, not fading and not damage. They relax out once the rug is laid flat in the room, and every rug is professionally steamed and pressed before it leaves our warehouse.
Design and Motifs
The center holds a dark indigo medallion shaped like a many lobed star, packed with ivory and celadon palmettes that spiral out from a small rose colored rosette core. Slim navy pendants rise above and below it, each one finished with a curling arabesque finial. Around the medallion the field runs as a true all-over composition: thin vine scrolls carrying rosettes, tulips, serrated leaves, grape clusters and small perched bird forms, drawn in blue, ivory and madder red so no two square feet read the same. A pale celadon band frames the field with larger palmettes and split leaves, and the main ivory border alternates coral lotus blossoms with gold-brown arabesque scrolls, contained by navy guard stripes and a fine reciprocal vine on the outer edge.
A Coral Orange Field Against Ivory
The ground is a warm coral orange that sits between salmon and terracotta, lighter in open areas where the wool catches the light and deeper where the vines crowd together. Against it the ivory border reads almost cream, and the indigo medallion drops the value hard enough to anchor the whole 8' x 11'5" surface. The secondary palette is mostly blue: sky blue and dusty celadon in the leaves and palmettes, deeper navy in the outlines and stems. Madder red lotus heads, gold-brown scrollwork and small points of emerald green keep the border lively, while ivory blossoms scatter through the field as highlights. It is a warm, low-glare color story that suits rooms with wood floors, brass and cream upholstery, and it sits comfortably with other coral, orange and rust Persian rugs.
Najafabad Weaving in the Isfahan Tradition
Najafabad lies a short drive west of Isfahan in central Persia, and its looms have always worked to the cartoons and conventions of the city itself. The difference is scale and purpose: where the famous city workshops chase extreme fineness in small formats, Najafabad weaves the same curved line, flowing vine and lobed medallion at genuine room sizes, on a cotton foundation with a dense, closely clipped wool pile built for daily use. That combination is why these pieces hold their drawing so cleanly, and why collectors who study Isfahan rugs keep an eye on the surrounding towns. At just under 12 feet long it belongs with the larger 8x11 Persian rugs, a size that carries a seating group or a full dining table without crowding the walls.
