The pile is natural hand-spun wool on a cotton foundation, and the finishing wash has already softened the palette so the rug arrives looking settled rather than raw. Design and Motifs

There is no central medallion here. A repeating lattice of palmettes, 8 petal rosettes and long serrated leaves climbs the field on slender vine scrolls, each blossom tied to the next so the eye keeps traveling instead of locking onto the middle. That is the practical virtue of a true all over floral design: a sofa or a dining table can sit anywhere on it without amputating a motif. Three bands frame the field. The main border alternates large lobed rosettes with lotus palmettes and small squared cartouches, bracketed by narrow guard stripes of running florets. The 4 corners resolve cleanly, with the border pattern turning the angle rather than being chopped off, which tells you the cartoon was drawn properly for this exact size. The selvedge is wrapped in a soft green and both ends finish in short hand-tied ivory fringe.
