8' x 9'9" Indian Jaipur Rug | Traditional All-Over Floral | Beige, Green & Rust | Brand New
This is a brand new, never used, hand-knotted wool rug made in India in the traditional Jaipur manner, measuring 8' x 9'9" with a soft beige field, a pale green and gold border and quiet rust and brown accents. It is a genuine hand-knotted Oriental rug, knot by knot on a cotton foundation, not machine made and not tufted, and the back photograph with the ruler shows the regular knot lines and the hand-tied fringe that prove it. Every rug we sell ships with a certificate of authenticity listing origin, materials, size and weave. At 8' x 9'9" it sits squarely in the most useful room size, and buyers comparing 8x10 Oriental rugs will find this one unusually easy to live with because the palette is light, warm and almost entirely free of hard contrast.
Design and Motifs
The field is drawn as a classical all-over floral pattern built on sweeping arabesque vines that curl from corner to corner and carry large serrated palmettes, split leaves and open rosettes. At the center the vinework closes into a small lobed medallion framed by an 8 petal rosette, with paired lancet leaves above and below it, and the same motif is echoed in quarter form at the 4 corners of the field so the drawing reads as a continuous garden rather than a single stiff centerpiece. Curved lines dominate, which is the mark of workshop drawing rather than village geometry, and the outlines are kept thin so the pattern stays airy. The border system is generous: a wide main band of linked palmettes and cartouche-like flower heads, flanked by narrow reciprocal guard stripes and a fine outer meander, with the corners resolved cleanly where the vines turn. The pile is clipped low and even, which is why the detail in the leaves and the small blossom stems stays legible in the close-up photographs.
A Beige, Green and Rust Color Palette
The ground is a warm sand beige that lifts toward ivory under direct light and settles into a soft oatmeal tone from across the room, which makes this a natural fit for anyone shopping beige and ivory rugs. Over that field the vines run in muted olive and antique gold, the palmettes open in honey, apricot and a dusty rose pink, and the deepest accents are rust, chestnut and a dark cocoa brown that gives the drawing its shadow and keeps the whole thing from going flat. Small touches of teal blue and sea green appear in the leaf tips and in the tiny flower heads of the guard stripes, and they are what connect the field to the border. The main border reads as a pale green gold, slightly cooler and lighter than the field, edged by a thin salmon and ivory meander. There is no sharp red and no black, so the rug behaves like a neutral: it works with cream and taupe walls, with walnut and oak floors, and with both polished antiques and plain contemporary upholstery.
Hand-Knotted in Jaipur, India
Jaipur in Rajasthan is one of the great hand-knotting centers of the world today, and India is where most of the finest new hand-knotted work is now being produced, with established looms, trained master weavers and careful dye control. We say that with confidence rather than apology: this is honest Indian workshop weaving, not an imitation of anything, and the standard here is high. The rug is knotted in wool on a cotton warp and weft, the knots are packed tightly enough to hold crisp curved outlines, and the selvedges are overcast by hand while the fringe is tied off from the warp ends rather than sewn on. The wool has a quiet natural sheen and a dense, springy handle underfoot that tells you the pile was given enough height to wear slowly. Brand new and never used, with no fading, no repairs and no thin areas, it is a rug that starts its service life in your room.
