9'7" x 12'9" Persian Kerman Rug | Faded Pink Floral Medallion | 1960s Vintage Low Pile

Woven in the 1960s, this Kerman has aged the way collectors hope a floral rug will age. The field was once a deeper rose, and six decades of light and honest use have pulled it back to a soft, powdery pink that sits quietly against a broad beige border. The wool pile is low and even across all 9'7" x 12'9", the cotton foundation is sound, and the rug lies flat with no ripples or buckling. At this footprint it reads as a true room size piece, the kind of weave that anchors a space the way the best 10x13 rugs do, while the washed, faded palette keeps it far lighter in feel than its scale suggests. Every rug we ship travels with a certificate of authenticity recording its origin, materials and hand-knotted construction.

Please Note About the Photographs:

The pale, washed out look in these photographs is the rug itself, not camera lighting. This is a vintage piece with a low, evenly worn pile, so the drawing shows through the wool and the colors are gentle rather than saturated. The weave is stable and the rug is sold in good, usable condition. It is professionally steamed and pressed before it leaves our warehouse.

Design and Motifs

The center holds a large lobed medallion in ivory and pale beige, built from concentric rings of small rosettes around a single open flowerhead, with scalloped cloud bands at the outer edge and short pendant tips reaching north and south. From there the field opens into a dense garden of floral sprays: leafy stems, carnation and rose heads, and long serrated leaves that curl back on themselves, all drawn in the fluid curvilinear line Kerman weavers are known for. Four corner spandrels in the same ivory tone frame the field and carry scrolling vine with palmettes. The wide main border repeats upright floral bouquets and palmettes separated by small vases and leaf clusters, and it is contained by narrow guard stripes of running flowerheads on an ivory ground. Both ends finish with a thin pink outer stripe and the original hand finished selvedges.

A Faded Pink and Beige Palette

Color is the whole story here. The field is a faded salmon pink, deepest along the long sides and softening toward the medallion, with gentle abrash that shifts between dusty rose and a paler blush where the pile sits lowest. The medallion, spandrels and border are beige moving into ivory and a warm sand tone, so the frame around the field reads almost cream in daylight. The foliage is drawn in a cool grey green that keeps the pink from turning sweet, with outlines in muted brick and a soft charcoal grey tracing the stems and vine. Scattered through the flowerheads are small touches of pale sky blue, easiest to see in the close photographs, and a few bouquets in the border keep a slightly stronger coral note. The overall effect is pastel and bleached rather than bright, which is exactly why these faded pieces work so well in rooms built on neutrals, and why buyers searching for pink Persian rugs look for this generation of Kerman first.
