Design and Motifs

Around it spreads a broad ivory cartouche outlined in sky blue, filled with curling leaf sprays, dark green foliage and small rose buds, with a pointed pendant dropping top and bottom. The navy field itself never repeats mechanically: palmettes, lotus heads, serrated leaves and half-open rosettes ride a fine scrolling vine that changes direction as it travels, so each quarter of the field reads differently even though the layout is balanced. The 4 corners carry matching ivory and orange spandrels that mirror the medallion drawing at reduced scale.
