This 5'5" x 19' Kazak runner is unusually broad for its length. At 65 inches across it covers a hall the way a narrow room rug would, then carries that width 19 feet down the floor, which is a proportion very few runners are woven in. The beige field runs unbroken from end to end and holds a single column of octagonal and diamond medallions in red, navy and sky blue, all of it framed by a deep red main border of ivory rosettes and paired hooked figures. The pile is wool on a cotton foundation, hand-knotted, brand new and never used, with a heavy springy handle you can feel in the folded corner photograph. Design and Motifs
