Design and Motifs

The field carries a staggered all-over repeat of broad palmettes, open lotus blossoms and shield-shaped rosettes, connected by long angular vines that run diagonally from corner to corner. Between the large blossoms sit small candelabra-like sprays and stepped diamond cartouches, each one outlined in ivory or charcoal so it reads clearly against the pale ground.
