6'8" x 9'11" Chobi Ziegler Oriental Rug | Pastel Beige & Light Blue All-Over Floral | Brand New

A brand new, never used Chobi Ziegler measuring 6'8" x 9'11", hand-knotted entirely by hand in natural wool on a cotton foundation and finished at a low 1/4" pile. The whole rug sits in a pastel register: a warm beige field carrying light blue and taupe florals, with ivory highlights and hand-tied fringe at both ends. It is a quiet, decorator-friendly Oriental rug rather than a loud one, which is exactly why this type sells so well into furnished rooms, and the useful 7x10 rug size fits a seating group or a 6 chair table without crowding the walls. The original warehouse tag, numbered B-77554 and reading 6'8 x 9'11, is still attached to the back, and the rug ships with our certificate of authenticity.

Design and Motifs

There is no central medallion here. The drawing is an all-over floral repeat built around large 8 petal rosettes set in offset rows, each one ringed by broad serrated leaves, smaller buds and thin curling vines that run corner to corner without a break. Between the big rosettes sit small cross-shaped flowerheads and tiny stars that fill the ground and keep the field from reading as empty. The main border uses interlocking ogee panels, each holding a single rosette, and is framed on both sides by narrow guard stripes carrying a small meandering vine. Because the repeat is open and the scale is generous, furniture legs land on pattern rather than hiding a medallion, which is the practical reason Ziegler drawing is so popular with designers.

A Pastel Palette of Beige, Light Blue and Taupe

The field is a warm sand beige that shifts gently between lighter and slightly deeper tones across the width, the natural variation you get from hand-spun wool taking dye unevenly. Against it the florals are drawn in a soft powder blue, the strongest color in the rug and still a muted one, supported by taupe and a greyed sage in the leaves and vine work. Ivory and cream pick out the rosette centers and the small filler flowers, and a pale ivory runs through the outer guard stripe and the fringe. The border reads slightly cooler than the field, with more of the light blue concentrated in the ogee outlines. Nothing in the palette is saturated, so this sits comfortably with white oak floors, linen upholstery and other beige and ivory rugs without competing for attention.

Ziegler Weaving in Pakistan

Ziegler is a design name, not a place: it comes from the 19th century European firm that commissioned open, large-scale floral rugs for Western rooms, and the pattern has been in continuous production ever since. Today the best of this work comes out of the workshops around Lahore and Peshawar in Pakistan, and this rug is honestly Made in Pakistan. Chobi refers to the softened, washed-down tones that give the piece its antique look straight off the loom. The weave itself is tight and even, as the folded corner and the back shots show, with a cotton foundation, clean straight selvages and hand-knotted ends rather than machine-bound edges. At a 1/4" clipped pile the pattern stays crisp and the rug lies flat under a door or a dining chair, while the natural wool keeps enough body to wear well in a busy room.
