7'10" x 8' Round Oriental Rug | Ivory Tabriz Design | Wool & Silk | Brand New

A true round in a usable size, this 7'10" x 8' piece is hand-knotted in wool with silk highlights on a cotton foundation and has never been used. The ivory field carries an all over floral vine drawing rather than a heavy central medallion, which is what makes a round work in a real room: there is no single point the eye has to line up with, so the rug reads correctly from every doorway and every chair. The pile is clipped low and even, the silk catches light along the vine stems and petal edges, and the selvages and cotton fringe are still crisp, as you can see in the back and edge photographs. This is a finely drawn, decorative hand-knotted Oriental rug, and it ships with our certificate of authenticity confirming it is 100% hand-knotted, its materials and its measurements.

Design and Motifs

The field is a classic Tabriz floral vocabulary worked as an all over repeat: thin scrolling vines run across the ivory ground and tie together full blown cabbage roses, 8 petal rosettes, split palmettes, tulip buds and small serrated leaves. At the exact center sits a single small star rosette with a burgundy outline and a pale blue core, acting as a quiet anchor point rather than a medallion, with 4 matching accent flowers set around it. The drawing is mirrored across both axes, so each quarter of the circle repeats the same bouquet arrangement, a difficult thing to resolve on a round loom and a good sign of a careful cartoon. Framing the field is a 3 part border system: a narrow rose colored inner stripe, a broad sage toned main border filled with roses, leaf sprays and reciprocal palmettes, and an outer guard stripe of small trailing blossoms, all running in a continuous circle with no interrupted corners. Close-up photo 4 shows how much detail is packed into a single square foot of the field, and photo 5 shows the border detail and the clean rolled edge.

A Soft Ivory Palette With Green, Burgundy and Rose

The ground is a warm ivory, closer to cream and soft butter than to white, which is why this rug sits comfortably on oak and parquet floors as shown in photos 2 and 3. Against that ground the florals are drawn in muted sage and olive green for the leaves and vine work, deep burgundy and oxblood red for the rose centers and outlines, rose pink and dusty apricot for the open petals, soft camel brown and tan for the larger blossoms, and small touches of pale slate blue and ivory white for highlight detail and tiny buds. The main border shifts to a pale sage and taupe tone with a rose colored inner stripe, so the frame is visible without going dark, and nothing in the palette shouts. It is a restrained, low contrast scheme that photographs as a neutral and behaves like one in a room full of furniture, which is exactly why collectors of ivory and beige rugs keep returning to this type of drawing.

Origin and Weaving Quality

This rug is honestly Made in China, hand-knotted on a cotton warp in the Tabriz design tradition, a drawing style Chinese workshops adopted and refined for their finest export production. The quality markers are all there in the photographs: a tight, regular knot grid visible on the reverse in photo 6 next to the 12 inch ruler, a low clipped pile that keeps the thin vine lines legible, silk used as highlight material through the flower heads and stems rather than across the whole pile, and a round outline that holds its shape without waving at the edge. Weaving a circle to this level of fineness means the weaver has to recalculate the knot count on every row while keeping a mirrored floral cartoon in register, which is the hardest thing to do well on a round loom.
