A military green field is the rarest thing about this rug. Tabriz weavers built their reputation on red and ivory grounds, so a full room size piece drawn on a soft olive green ground is a piece you will not see repeated on the next dealer's floor. The drawing is classic city work: a navy lobed medallion floating in the center, ivory spandrels stepped into all 4 corners, and a wide brick red main border carrying rosettes and palmettes. The wool pile sits at 3/8", short enough to hold the fine detail and heavy enough to live under furniture for decades on its cotton foundation. Condition is excellent throughout, with even pile, straight sides and full ends. Design and Motifs

The layout is the medallion and corner formula that Tabriz workshops have drawn for generations, worked here with unusual patience. At the center sits a lobed navy medallion filled with a lattice of tiny blossoms, anchored by a red cross shaped rosette with an 8 petal ivory flower at its heart. Above and below the medallion are shaded vase and cypress pendants, and small winged butterfly figures hover at each end of the axis. The green field around it is not empty: it carries paired ivory cartouches holding trees and blossoming sprays, scrolling vines, rosebuds and scattered leaves in a mirrored arrangement that reads the same from either end of the room. Stepped ivory spandrels close off all 4 corners with dense rose and red flowerheads, each one marked with a green stylized motif. The border system runs 5 bands deep: a brick red main border of alternating light blue rosettes and ivory cartouches linked by leafy vine, framed by navy and ivory minor guard stripes that keep the whole composition tight.

The field color is a muted military green, closer to sage and olive than to grass, with the gentle tonal movement that hand-dyed wool always shows across a large ground. Against it the medallion reads deep navy with cornflower and powder blue infill, which is the sharpest contrast in the rug and the reason your eye lands on the center first. The main border is brick red with a soft terracotta undertone, warmed further by ivory cartouches and repeated light blue rosettes that pick the medallion color back up at the edges.
