9'1" x 12' Oriental Rug | Light Aqua Green All-Over Floral | Hand-Knotted Wool, Brand New

This is a quiet, confident room-size piece: a light aqua green field carrying gold and brown florals, wrapped in a broad ivory gold border, hand-knotted entirely by hand in natural wool on a cotton foundation. At 9'1" x 12' it sits squarely in the most useful of the 9x12 Oriental rugs category, large enough to float a full seating group with the sofa and chair legs on wool rather than hovering at the edge. The pile is full and even, the selvages are tight, and the rug has never been laid in a home. It ships with a certificate of authenticity confirming it as a genuine hand-knotted rug, with the weave, fiber content and dimensions recorded.

Please Note About the Photographs:

A faint horizontal line crosses the field in one or two of the close-up photographs. That is a fold mark from flat pallet storage, not wear, not fading and not damage. It relaxes once the rug is laid flat, and every rug is professionally steamed and pressed before it leaves our warehouse.

Design and Motifs

The field is drawn as a true all-over floral design in the Ziegler style, with no medallion to anchor the eye. Large lotus palmettes and multi petal rosettes sit on a loose, open vine lattice, linked by curling serrated leaves and small sickle leaf sprays that give the repeat its drift. The drawing is deliberately spaced, so a good amount of plain ground shows between the blossoms, which is what keeps a rug this size from feeling busy. The framing is built from 3 bands: a wide ivory main border of alternating palmette heads and standing floral bouquets, flanked on both sides by narrow guard stripes of repeating rosettes and running vine. Corners resolve cleanly, with the main border motif turning at all 4 corners rather than being cut off, a reliable sign of a carefully followed design plan.

The Light Aqua Green and Gold Color Palette

The field is a soft aqua green with a grey undertone, closer to sea glass or weathered sage than to any bright blue, and it carries a gentle vertical striation through the wool that reads as natural variation in the dye lot rather than a flaw. Against it, the florals run through warm old gold, honey, camel and a toasted brown, with small ivory accents at the petal centers and occasional pale aqua picked back out of the field color inside the border palmettes. The main border is a creamy ivory gold, the guard stripes a warmer terracotta brown, and the outer edge returns to the green of the field so the whole rug closes on the same note it opens with. It is a low contrast palette that behaves well with white walls, natural oak, linen upholstery and brass, and it fits the broader family of green Oriental rugs without leaning traditional or formal.

Origin and Weaving Quality

Made in Pakistan, where workshop weavers have spent generations reproducing classical all-over floral layouts at a level of finish that holds up to close inspection. This is a genuine hand-knotted Oriental rug, not tufted, not machine made: the back photographs show the individual knots in clear rows across a cotton foundation, with the design legible from the reverse, and the fringe is the extension of the warps rather than something stitched on afterward. Knot density is even from end to end, the two long sides are straight and the rug lies flat without buckling, which matters more on a 12 foot length than on a small rug. The natural wool pile is clipped at a medium height, soft underfoot but with enough body and lanolin to take real traffic and to hold the fine outlines of the palmettes for decades of use.
