Design and Motifs

The field carries a full Herati repeat, the pattern also called mahi or fish: a diamond trellis with a rosette at each intersection and four curved lancet leaves turned around it like fish circling a pool. Here the trellis is drawn in dark green and navy outline, each diamond filled with an 8 petal rosette in ivory, blue, gold or soft pink, so the eye reads a tight, endlessly repeating grid rather than a single motif. At the center sits a compact diamond medallion on an indigo purple ground, edged in ivory sawtooth and filled with its own smaller rosettes and lancet leaves, with matching quarter medallions turning the 4 corners of the field into stepped spandrels. The main border is a broad indigo band of palmettes and rotating floral sprays, framed by ivory and rust guard stripes, and the outer skirt returns to plain orange before the fringe. A Terracotta Orange Field Against Indigo Purple
