9'6" x 12'7" Persian Tabriz Rug | Red Field, Ivory Star Medallion | Excellent Condition

This is a full room size Tabriz at 9'6" x 12'7", hand-knotted in wool on a cotton foundation with a short 3/8" pile that keeps the drawing crisp from edge to edge. The condition is excellent: the pile is even, the ends and sides are sound, and the colors have the settled depth of a rug that has been cared for rather than worn down. It sits squarely in the 10x13 Persian rug range, which covers a seating group completely and lets furniture rest on the rug rather than around it. Design and Motifs

The center holds a stepped star medallion drawn in ivory over a navy ground, with an 8 petal rosette at its core and serrated leaf and blossom forms radiating out from it. Above and below, slender navy pendants reach into the field like finials. The 4 corners carry large ivory spandrels filled with curling vine, palmettes and small angular leaves, so the red field reads as a lobed cartouche shape rather than a plain rectangle. Across that field runs a dense all-over pattern of hooked vines, rosettes, cypress forms and split palmettes, each one outlined so it separates cleanly from the ground. The main border is a navy band of alternating palmette panels and arched cartouches, framed on both sides by narrow reciprocal guard stripes and a fine ivory meander that keeps the whole composition tightly contained.

The Color: Madder Red Under Ivory and Navy

The field is a true madder red, warm and slightly brick-leaning rather than pink or orange, and it carries gentle tonal movement across the width that only hand-dyed wool produces.
