Design and Motifs

The field carries a classic Ziegler all over design: broad palmettes, cusped shield forms and open rosettes strung on thick curving vines, with serrated leaves filling the spaces between them. The scale is deliberately oversized, which is what keeps a 9' x 12' field from looking busy, and the drawing is drawn softly rather than crisply outlined, so the pattern reads as texture from standing height and resolves into detail when you sit down. A wide ivory main border repeats a turtle palmette and vine rhythm around all 4 sides, framed by narrow guard stripes of small floral heads and a running leaf meander. Corners are resolved cleanly, and the outer stripe picks the field tone back up so the border never looks pasted on.

A Muted Peach Palette With Sage and Pale Blue

Color is the reason to buy this rug. The ground is a soft peach that leans toward apricot in daylight and toward warm sand under lamps, with light horizontal abrash that proves hand-dyed wool and hand-spun yarn rather than a flat machine tone.
