This is a room-size Zigler Chobi in the softest colorway the design is woven in: a rustic rose burgundy field carrying a wide, quiet ivory border. Everything here is hand-knotted by hand-tied knot, with a natural wool pile on a cotton foundation, and the piece has never been placed in a home. It has never been walked on, so the pile still stands full and even across all 140 square feet, as you can see in the rolled and folded shots. At 10' x 14' it covers a large living room or a full dining set with seat-back clearance, and the back tag photographed with the tape measure confirms the dimensions and the reference number. Design and Motifs

The drawing follows the 19th century Ziegler Mahal tradition, which is why this reads calmer and more open than a tightly packed medallion layout. There is no central medallion at all. Instead a lattice of slender vines climbs the full field in an all-over floral design, anchored by large fan-shaped palmettes that sit in mirrored pairs down the length of the rug, plus rounded rosettes on the center axis and small 5 petal blossoms scattered through the ground. Serrated acanthus leaves and curling tendrils fill the space between the big flowerheads, and the corners resolve into ivory spandrels rather than hard geometric brackets. The main border repeats a rosette and lotus cartouche linked by a thin vine, framed by two narrow guard stripes of tiny 4 petal flowers, and the outer edge is finished in the same rose tone as the field so the whole piece is contained. Because the pattern repeats without a focal point, furniture can be placed anywhere on it without cutting the design in half, which is the practical reason this style is so popular in oversize rooms.

Color and Palette

The field is a soft rustic rose burgundy, a dusty brick tone with brown in it rather than a bright true red, and it shifts slightly with the light: warmer and deeper in the flat overhead view, softer and more terracotta in the angled floor shots. Against that ground the palmettes are worked in old gold, wheat and pale butter cream, with olive and sage green in the leaves, and small touches of teal blue and soft gray in the flower centers. Thin strokes of tomato red outline many of the petals, which keeps the muted drawing from going flat. The wide border is beige to light gold, roughly two shades apart from the field, and it carries the same green, red and gray accents so the two zones belong together. The narrow outer stripe is a deeper honey gold, and the fringe is natural undyed cream cotton. The overall effect is warm and low contrast, easy alongside walnut or cherry wood, camel and cream upholstery, or warm white walls.

Origin and Weaving Quality

This rug was made in Pakistan, one of the few places still producing hand-knotted floor covering of this caliber at a serious scale. The workshops there weave on vertical looms with a cotton warp and weft and a hand-spun wool pile, and the Zigler Chobi program is their signature: classical drawing, softened dye tones and a clipped, evenly sheared pile. The close detail images show clean knot rows and crisp outlines on the curved vine work, which is the real test of a weave at this size, and the folded corner shows a supple, flexible back that lies flat straight out of the roll.
