Between them sit small closed buds on single stems and a pale scrolling cloudband motif that repeats down the center line, visible clearly in the close-up photograph. The main border carries an alternating rhythm of half rosettes and large sweeping leaves on a solid gold ground, with small lily forms filling the gaps above, and it is bracketed by two narrow guard stripes: an inner one of tiny stars and blossoms and an outer olive-brown band of rosettes and oak-shaped leaves. The corners are resolved properly, with the border pattern turning rather than being cut, which is the first place a buyer should look when judging whether the weaver followed a full cartoon.

Beige Field, Gold Border and the Accent Palette

The ground color sits between cream and wheat, a warm beige with no pink or grey in it, and because the pile has silk in it the same field shifts from pale champagne to a light straw tone depending on where you stand. The palmettes and rosettes work through a full gold range: deep mustard at the centers, honey and camel in the petals, and a paler wheat outline that separates each flower from the field. Ziegler Weaving and Quality

The Ziegler name comes from the Manchester firm Ziegler & Co., which from the 1880s commissioned rugs in the Sultanabad district of central Persia and had classical Persian drawing redrawn at a larger, calmer scale for Western rooms.
