Length like this is the whole point of this rug. At 2'8" x 25" wide it is a true corridor piece, hand-knotted in one continuous run so the floral drawing carries the full 25 feet without a join, a seam or a repeat that has to be patched together. It is a Chobi Ziglar, woven in Afghanistan in natural wool over a cotton foundation, and it is brand new and never used: full pile, straight edges, tight hand-tied fringe at both ends. Finding a 25 foot hallway runner that is genuinely hand-knotted rather than machine loomed to order is unusual, and this one measures 2'8" x 25' exactly as tagged on the reverse. Design and Motifs

The field carries a classic Ziglar all over floral design: a slender vine runs up the center line and throws off alternating stations of large serrated palmettes, rounded vases, split leaves and 8 petal rosettes, so the eye keeps moving down the corridor rather than stopping at a medallion. Because a runner this narrow cannot hide a mistake, the weaver has kept the drawing symmetrical station by station, with paired leaf sprays flanking each palmette and small buds filling the gaps between vines. The main border is a repeating rosette and curling leaf meander set between narrow guard stripes, and the inner guard is a fine dotted ribbon that frames the field cleanly. Both end panels finish with a row of upright flowering shrubs, a nice detail that most long runners skip.

A Softly Faded Ivory Beige Palette

The ground is a warm ivory beige with visible abrash, the natural tonal drift of hand-spun wool that makes one stretch read closer to cream and the next closer to oatmeal. Over that ground the drawing is built from soft sage green and pale blue grey in the rosettes and leaves, mushroom brown in the vines and border outlines, and a deliberate punch of rust red to burgundy in the leaf sprays and in the small flowerheads inside the border. The contrast is low by design: from standing height the runner reads as a quiet neutral, and it is only close up that the red and the sage separate from the ivory. That makes it easy to live with next to oak or walnut flooring, painted wainscot or pale plaster walls, and it does not fight a patterned wallpaper.

Chobi Weaving in Afghanistan

Chobi Ziglar rugs are woven by Afghan weavers, historically finished and traded through Peshawar, which is why the two names travel together in the market. The style takes its drawing from the 19th century Ziegler workshops and its palette from the muted, washed tonality that Chobi weaving is known for, and it is one of the few places where a hand-knotted Oriental rug is still produced at genuine 25 foot lengths on a single loom. The wool here is the local highland fleece: dense, slightly coarse to the hand, springy underfoot and very durable, which is exactly what a hallway or stair landing needs. The knotting is even, the selvages are wrapped tight and the back is uniform end to end, which is the real test on a runner this long.
