This is a brand new, never used hand-knotted piece in the most useful room size there is, a true 8x10 area rug measuring 8'1" x 10'. The drawing is classical and tightly controlled: a deep burgundy field packed edge to edge with flowering vinework, framed by a navy main border and flanked by pale ivory guard stripes. It is a formal Oriental rug in the traditional idiom, woven on a cotton foundation with a fine wool pile that still carries its full original height, as the fringe and pile shots show. Design and Motifs

There is no central medallion here. Instead the weaver used a mirrored all-over floral design built from serpentine vines that split, curl back and reconnect across the whole field, each junction anchored by a rosette or a fan-shaped palmette. Cabbage roses drawn in rose and coral sit beside 8 petal blue rosettes, small ivory blossoms, leaf sprays and slender bud stems, and the close-up photograph shows how many distinct flower heads the design carries without ever looking crowded. The main border repeats a bolder version of the same vocabulary, large gold and cream roses alternating with red blossoms on a navy ground, while the narrow guard stripes run a simple repeating vine that keeps the eye inside the field. The corners resolve cleanly, which is the mark of a properly followed cartoon rather than an improvised repeat.

A Burgundy Field Lit by Blue, Rose and Green

The ground is a deep wine burgundy, dark enough to read almost black in shadow and to glow warm red where light crosses the pile. Against it the weaver worked a full palette: soft powder blue and deep indigo in the rosettes and leaves, olive and sage green in the vinework, salmon and dusty rose in the larger blossoms, with gold, cream and ivory used as highlights that lift the whole surface. The navy border is the anchor, dark and steady, and the ivory guard stripes give the rug a bright outer frame that separates it cleanly from a wood floor. In practice this is an easy palette to decorate around, because the burgundy hides everyday traffic while the blues, greens and roses pick up upholstery and drapery tones rather than fighting them.

Pakistan's workshops have spent decades weaving the classical floral repertoire to a high standard, and this piece is a good example of that work: a cotton warp and weft, a fine, evenly clipped wool pile, straight sides, square corners and a knot count fine enough to hold the tiny bud and leaf details you can see in the field close-up.
