Design and Motifs

There is no medallion here. Instead the black field carries a continuous lattice of scrolling vines that links large crowned palmettes, lotus blossoms, multi-petal rosettes and long serrated leaves, with the whole layout mirrored left to right and top to bottom so the drawing reads as one endless garden rather than a repeat. Close up, the fourth photograph shows how much detail sits inside each flower head: outlined petals, shaded centers and fine tendrils only a few knots wide.
