6'1" x 9'2" Kashan Design Oriental Rug | All Over Floral | Approx. 200 KPSI Silky Wool

This 6'1" x 9'2" hand-knotted Oriental rug was woven in Pakistan in the classic Kashan drawing, and it has never been on a floor. The wool is the reason to look twice: a fine, silky, high-luster fleece clipped low so that roughly 200 knots per square inch stay legible in every leaf tip and flower center. On a cotton foundation at this weight the rug lies dead flat, handles like a much finer piece than its size suggests, and reads soft and luminous rather than heavy. Design and Motifs

There is no medallion here. The weaver ran an all-over floral design across the entire field, a mirrored lattice of thin vine scrolls carrying big open palmettes, multi-petal rosettes, half-lotus blossoms and long serrated leaves that curl back on themselves. Look down the center axis and the drawing repeats in perfect mirror image left to right, with a single upright palmette anchoring the top and bottom of each repeat. The detail photos show how much drawing sits inside one flower: outlined petals, a dark core, a second row of shading, and hooked leaf tips finished in 2 or 3 tones. The main border alternates a large frontal rosette with an arabesque palmette cartouche, framed by 2 narrow guard stripes of small star flowers and reciprocal serrated leaves, and the corners resolve cleanly with no broken motifs.

A Beige and Gold Palette With Sage Green Depth

The field is a warm beige, closer to cream where the light hits the pile and closer to soft camel where it turns. The main border steps up into a deeper gold, which is what gives the rug its frame without using a dark ground. Inside that neutral shell the weaver placed a surprisingly wide secondary palette: sage green leaf tips, warm brown and near-charcoal outlines, muted salmon and apricot petals, pale lilac shading and cool silver blue-grey rosette centers, all in small doses so the rug still reads as a quiet neutral from across the room. The effect is a floor covering that behaves like a light rug but never looks flat, and it works with white, oatmeal, walnut and brass just as easily as it does with navy or green upholstery.

Woven in Pakistan to a Fine Standard

Pakistan has spent decades building a genuine hand-knotting industry, and the better workshops there now produce classical floral designs at a knot count most village weaving never reaches. This piece is a good example: approximately 200 knots per square inch on a cotton foundation, knotted by hand row by row, with a low even clip that lets curved vine lines stay curved instead of stepping. The back photo shows tight, regular knot nodes and straight side finishes, and the fringes are the extension of the cotton warps rather than an applied trim, which is the honest marker of a hand-knotted rug. It is brand new, unused, and structurally perfect, so the buyer gets the full life of the wool rather than the tail end of someone else's.
