A 10' x 10' round is a genuinely difficult piece to weave, because the circle has to be drawn on the loom row by row as the width narrows, and the design has to resolve evenly to a single point at the center. This one does both. It is hand-knotted at approximately 250 knots per square inch in soft kork wool with real silk worked into the flower heads, so the blossoms lift out of the matte ivory ground whenever the light moves across the floor. The fringe follows the curve without interruption and the flat-woven ivory band at the edge is original to the weave, not a later binding. Condition is excellent and new, never laid in a home, and it ships with our certificate of authenticity.

Design and Motifs

There is no dominant medallion. Instead the field carries a true all-over composition: a small 8 petal rosette star at the dead center, then ring after ring of palmettes, serrated lancet leaves, open rose sprays and tiny four petal buds, all strung together on hair-thin scrolling vines. Because the lattice was drawn to a circular grid, each ring reads as a complete wreath rather than a rectangular repeat cut off at the edge, which is what makes a round of this size look intentional instead of trimmed. The border system runs in 5 concentric bands: a wide main border of rose sprays, palmettes and curling leaves on a pale ground, framed inside and out by narrow terracotta guard stripes with running cream rosettes, then a thin meander band and finally the plain woven ivory edge. The close-up shows how much detail sits inside each blossom, with outlining in dark navy and brown that keeps every petal legible at 250 knots per square inch.

The Ivory, Rust and Green Palette

The field is a warm undyed ivory, closer to cream and champagne than to white, and it takes up the color of the room it sits in. Against it the drawing works in three temperatures. The warm notes are rust and terracotta in the guard stripes, tawny gold and camel in the larger palmettes, and salmon pink in the rose heads. The deep notes are burgundy and oxblood in the big serrated blossoms and in the pointed leaves, with brown and near-black outlining that gives the pattern its structure. The cool notes are sage and olive green in the leafwork and vine, plus soft slate blue in a few smaller flowers and in the centers of the burgundy rosettes. The silk appears only in the flowers, so the palette shifts as you walk around the circle: the burgundy and gold blossoms flash brighter from one side, then settle back into the matte ivory ground from the other. It is a quiet, neutral-leaning scheme that will sit under a dark wood or glass round table without competing with it.

The back photograph tells the story: even rows on a pale cotton foundation, a straight consistent beat with no crowding or slack, and clean color transitions through the border stripes.
