8'8" x 11'11" Jaipur Oriental Rug | Zigler All-Over Floral | Soft Blue Field, Brand New

This 8'8" x 11'11" Jaipur rug takes the Zigler design vocabulary and redraws it at a finer scale, spreading a continuous garden of rosettes, palmettes and leaf sprays across a soft, dusty blue ground and framing it in a light ivory border. It was hand-knotted in Jaipur on a cotton foundation with a wool pile, and it is genuinely new: the pile stands full, the ends and selvages are untouched, and nothing has been washed down, painted or restored. Dimensionally it falls into the 9x12 rugs group, so it covers a standard sofa-and-two-chairs grouping or a 6 to 8 seat dining table without crowding the walls. Design and Motifs

There is no central medallion. Instead the field carries an all-over floral lattice built from coral colored vine stems that cross on the diagonal and meet at large 8 and 12 petal rosettes. Between those anchor points sit paired palmettes, serrated leaves, tulip and carnation sprays and small 4 petal blossoms, each motif outlined in a darker shade so it reads cleanly against the open ground rather than blurring into it. The drawing mirrors along both axes, which is why the palmette pairs face one another in the close-up photographs and why the repeat stays orderly across nearly 12 feet of length. Three bands frame the field: a narrow inner guard of small flowers and leaf tips on rust, a wide main border of rotating rosettes and long green leaf sprays, and a matching outer guard, with the blue of the field carried out to the overcast selvage.

A Cool Blue Ground Under a Warm, Autumnal Palette

The ground is a muted light blue with a soft grey green cast, closer to weathered slate or sea glass than to a saturated navy, and it shifts with the light: silvery and cool from above, dustier and warmer when you stand at floor level. Everything drawn on top of it runs warm. The vinework is rust and terracotta, the petals move through burnt orange, gold and mustard, the flower centers drop into deep burgundy and an almost black brown, and the foliage is olive and moss green with small touches of cream and pale blue in the tiniest blossoms. The main border changes the balance entirely, laid on a light beige to ivory ground that brightens the outer 12 inches and makes the frame the lightest part of the rug. That combination of a cool field and a warm, autumnal repeat is what lets it work with camel, brown and oatmeal upholstery, walnut or oak floors and black stone or metal tables, exactly as shown in the room photograph.

Jaipur is where most of the world's best contemporary hand-knotted weaving is now done, and this rug is honest about that: it is Made in India, by workshops that have spent the last few decades taking over the fine end of the trade. The evidence is in the execution. The knot count is high enough to carry a curved vine and an outlined petal edge without the drawing turning blocky, the hand-spun wool takes dye with the depth you can see in the burgundy and olive, and the fold photograph shows knots that are small, tight and even from one selvage to the other. The ends are hand-finished into plain cotton fringe and the sides are overcast in the field blue.
