This 9' x 11'9" Ziegler Chobi is a new, never used piece, hand-knotted in natural wool with a deep maroon field that photographs almost like velvet and a wide beige border that lifts the whole rug. Design and Motifs

There is no central medallion here. The field carries a classic all-over floral composition built on a lattice of thin curling vines, with large open palmettes and 8 petal rosettes set at the intersections and smaller lotus heads, star flowers and long serrated leaves filling the ground between them. The drawing is generous and slightly relaxed rather than tight and formal, which is exactly what buyers look for in the Ziegler Chobi style, and it means the pattern reads well from standing height and still rewards a close look at the palmette centers. The border system runs 5 deep: a broad beige main band of alternating palmettes, leaf sprays and vine-linked blossoms, flanked by narrow guard stripes of repeating cups and small floral heads, all contained by a solid maroon outer frame. The corners resolve cleanly, with the main border motif turning the corner without breaking rhythm, which is a sign of careful loom work on a rug this wide.

A Deep Maroon Field Framed in Soft Gold

The field is a dark wine maroon with a faint natural variation across the width that gives the wool depth instead of flatness, and under direct light the pile throws the sheen you see in the close-up photographs. Against it, the vines and palmettes are worked in ivory and warm cream, graduating into soft gold and honey on the larger flower heads.
