Design and Motifs

The field is a true all over design with no central medallion, built from large lotus palmettes, split leaves and curling serrated vines that repeat in mirrored rows down the length of the rug. Look closely at the field photos and you can see how the weavers outlined each blossom twice, once in crimson and once in olive, so the flowers lift off the gold ground instead of sinking into it.
