13' x 19'6" Persian Tabriz Rug | Ivory & Peach Floral Medallion | Wool & Silk, Never Used

At a full 13' x 19'6", this is a palace-scale Persian Tabriz that has never been laid on a floor. The ground is ivory, almost the color of raw silk, and it carries a soft pink and peach medallion at the center with a wide salmon border holding the whole field together. The pile is plush and perfectly even, the wool is bright, and the silk highlights pick up the light along the flower heads and vine tips. Drawing this fine across nearly 20 feet of length is the hard part, and the vine scrolls stay crisp from the medallion right out to the guard stripes. It ships with a certificate of authenticity. Design and Motifs

The center holds a small rosette set inside a cusped ivory cartouche, which sits inside a broad peach medallion built from pointed lobes and star-shaped flower heads. Pendants run off the medallion at top and bottom, and the 4 corners carry matching spandrels drawn in the same peach with ivory flowering sprays. Between them the field runs as an all over floral design: thin curving vines, split palmettes, rose sprays, tulip buds and long feathered leaves, all drawn with a curved line rather than a village angle. The border system is layered, with a wide salmon main band of alternating palmettes and leaf cartouches, flanked by ivory guard stripes of small rosettes and pale blue vinework, then a narrow outer band and a clean ivory kilim end with plain fringe.

A Palette Built on Ivory, Peach and Soft Blue

Ivory is the base note here, warm rather than stark white, and it takes up most of the surface so the room stays light. The peach to salmon of the medallion and main border is the second voice, shading between a dusty rose and a muted coral depending on the angle of the light. Inside that framework the weaver works small: blush pink petals, sky blue and slate blue leaf tips, sage and olive green stems, deep aubergine and burgundy flower centers, and near-black outlines that give every motif its edge. Nothing is loud. The whole palette reads as a soft neutral from across the room and only shows its blues, greens and burgundies when you stand over it, which is exactly why ivory Tabriz pieces work under both antique and modern furniture.

Woven in Tabriz, Northwest Persia

Tabriz sits in the northwest of Persia and has been the country's most organized weaving city for centuries, working from full cartoons on the loom rather than from memory. Fineness there is counted in Raj, the knots across a gereh of width, and it is the Raj count that lets a workshop draw curved vines and lobed medallions cleanly instead of stepping them. This piece is workshop work: a cotton foundation under a wool pile lifted with silk, tight straight selvedges, and a back that shows small regular knots and no drift in the pattern over 19'6" of length. Weaving a single rug at this scale takes a wide loom, several weavers side by side and years of work, which is why untouched oversize examples in a light palette turn up far less often than mid-size ones.
