Design and Motifs

The field carries a classic Zigler composition: an all-over floral lattice with no central medallion, built from large open palmettes, 8 petal rosettes and split leaf forms linked by a slow, thin vine that wanders across the whole surface. Because there is no medallion, the pattern reads as a repeating field, which means furniture can sit anywhere on it without cutting the design in half. The scale is generous, the blossoms are drawn wide and airy, and the curling serrated leaves give the field its movement. A wide main border repeats alternating rosettes and angular leaf sprays between narrow guard stripes, with small square cartouche forms breaking the rhythm at intervals. The corners resolve cleanly, the outer edge finishes in a dark brown band, and the ends are secured with natural white cotton fringe.

A Study in Olive, Brown and Beige
