This is a long, unusually proportioned room rug: 8'2" wide by 15'9" long, hand-knotted in soft wool on a cotton foundation and finished in a quiet taupe-gray and ivory palette. Nearly 16 feet of length makes it a true oversize hand-knotted rug, the sort of piece that finally fills a long living room, a great room with a seating group at each end, or a wide gallery where standard 9x12 sizes always looked stranded. Design and Motifs

The field carries a classic Oushak all-over floral design, drawn loosely and generously rather than packed tight. Large serrated palmettes and lobed rosettes sit on a thin, curling vine that travels the full 15'9" without a medallion to interrupt it, and between them rise the branching, coral-like sprays that collectors associate with the Oushak vocabulary. Small 8 petal rosettes, tiny cruciform fillers and stylized leaf forms occupy the ground between the larger elements, so the field reads as full but never busy. The wide ivory main border repeats a linked palmette and vine scroll with pale blue reciprocal guard stripes on either side, and the corners resolve cleanly at all 4 turns. Because there is no central medallion, furniture can be placed anywhere on the rug without cutting the drawing in half, which is exactly what a 15'9" layout needs.

A Neutral Taupe Gray and Ivory Palette

The ground is a soft taupe gray, warm rather than cold, with a gentle vertical abrash that shifts from pale smoke to a deeper mushroom tone as the light moves across the pile. Against that ground the drawing is worked in cream and buttery ivory, pale blue gray, a dusty sage green and small measured touches of apricot and soft gold at the rosette centers.
