It is hand-knotted in Peshawar from handspun natural wool on a cotton foundation, in the quiet mint and peach palette that buyers hunting this design usually have to wait for, and the pile has never been walked on. The drawing is unusually clean for the size, with the 4 corners of the inner frame resolving properly rather than being cut short, and the wool has the light, slightly waxy sheen you can see in the rolled shots. Design and Motifs

This is a classic Ziegler layout: no central medallion, but a large scale all over floral design built from broad palmettes, open lotus blossoms, 8 petal rosettes and long serrated leaves carried on thick scrolling vines. Because the motifs are drawn big and spaced generously, the field reads calm rather than busy, and a sofa or dining table sitting on it does not crowd the pattern. A slender double framing line runs just inside the border, an old workshop device that gives the field its own panel and stops the eye at the edge. The main border alternates lobed charcoal and peach cartouche palmettes on a pale ground, framed by narrow guard stripes: a repeating small flower head stripe on the outside and a fine dark arrowhead vine on the inside. Look at the corner photographs and you can see the corner palmettes turning cleanly into the border, drawn to fit rather than chopped, which is the detail that separates a well cartooned piece from a quick commercial weave.

A Study in Light Green, Peach and Ivory

The field is a pale mint green that drifts toward celadon and soft grey-green depending on the light, with gentle abrash streaking across the width where the handspun yarn changed batch. Over it the drawing is worked in warm peach and apricot, chalky ivory, bone cream, sandy tan and a muted olive that ties the vines together, with small hits of deep charcoal and warm brown inside the rosettes and leaf tips to give the pattern its outline and depth. The main border sits a shade warmer than the field, a soft biscuit and sage ground that lifts the peach palmettes, while the outer guard stripe is closer to a light apricot. There is no red, no navy and no black mass anywhere in the rug, which is exactly why this palette works over pale oak, limestone, greige plaster and white trim: it adds pattern and warmth without forcing the rest of the room to answer to it. The wool takes light well, so the mint reads cooler by day and noticeably creamier under lamps.

Peshawar Weaving and Quality

Peshawar, in northwest Pakistan, is where the Ziegler tradition is kept alive today, and the best workshops there weave to a standard that is honest value in a piece this large. The yarn is handspun rather than machine spun, which is why the field carries that faint variegation instead of flat dead color, and the finished rug is washed to soften the dyes into the mellow, lived-in tone you see here.
