At 4'2" x 18'6" (50 inches across and 222 inches long), this piece covers the kind of full center hall, gallery corridor or double stair landing that ordinary 2'6" strips make look narrow, and at 50 inches wide it reads as a proper floor covering with furniture legs able to sit on it. It is hand-knotted in wool on a cotton foundation, brand new and never used, and the pile still has the full unwalked height you can see in the corner and back photographs. Design and Motifs

The field carries a strict all over floral design built on a repeating column of motifs that runs the full 18'6". Paired 8 petal rosettes with serrated dark outlines sit at the left and right edges of each repeat, and between them the drawing alternates a cream and gold diamond lozenge with a large fan-shaped palmette crowned by split leaves. Thin curling vines link every element, dropping small buds, tulip heads and paired leaf tips into the open ground so no part of the field sits empty. The main border is generous for a runner, filled with stylized flowerheads, angular leaf hooks and small crosses, and it is fenced on both sides by narrow guard stripes carrying a repeating comma and dot rhythm. The 4 corners are resolved cleanly, with the border pattern turning without a break, which is a detail worth checking in any runner of this length.

A Dusty Rose Field with Gold, Olive and Deep Teal Blue

The ground is a light dusty rose that reads softer and pinker in flat overhead light and warms toward terracotta and salmon when seen at an angle across the pile, the natural abrash-like play of a hand-knotted wool surface. Against it, the large rosettes are drawn in a very deep teal blue that is nearly black at the outlines, with their centers filled in sage, apricot and ivory.
