This 8' x 10'3" piece is a brand new, never used hand-knotted Oriental rug woven in wool with silk drawn through the flowers and leaf tips, on a cotton foundation. The drawing follows the classic Tabriz formula: a soft ivory field, a delicate center medallion, and an all-over vine system that reaches every corner without crowding. Silk catches the light along the petals and stems, so the pattern shifts quietly as you walk around the room, while the wool ground stays calm and neutral. The pile is full, the ends are finished with clean cotton fringe, and the sides are tight and straight. Every rug we sell ships with a certificate of authenticity confirming that it is hand-knotted, along with its size, materials and origin.

Design and Motifs

A small lobed medallion sits at the center with a rosette core, flanked by paired pendants above and below that dissolve into the surrounding vinework rather than sitting on top of it. From there the field opens into a full all-over composition of palmettes, layered rosettes, cupped blossoms and long curled lancet leaves, all carried on thin scrolling stems that split and rejoin in the balanced way Tabriz cartoons are drawn. The 4 corners repeat quarter sections of the medallion scheme, which is what keeps the layout readable when furniture covers part of the field. The main border runs a rhythm of large shield-shaped palmettes alternating with rosette clusters and serrated leaves, framed by narrow guard stripes of small floral heads and a fine reciprocal zigzag. Everything is outlined in a darker brown, and that outlining is what gives the pattern its definition against such a pale ground.

Ivory, Beige and the Accent Palette

The field is a warm ivory, closer to fresh cream than to white, and the border sits a half step deeper in soft beige so the two read as separate zones without any hard contrast line. Inside the flowers the palette does the work: dusty rust and deep wine in the flower centers, a muted light blue and slate blue through the petals and the lancet leaves, sage and soft green in the foliage, honey gold in the larger palmettes, and warm brown in the outlines and stems. Small points of ivory silk sit at the tips of petals and read almost white against the wool. Nothing is saturated, so the overall impression is neutral and quiet from standing height, with the color only revealing itself up close. That makes it an easy rug to live with next to wood floors, cream walls, and both warm and cool furniture.

Made in Pakistan to a Tabriz Drawing

Pakistan is one of the few places still producing hand-knotted work at this level of drawing, and its better workshops build directly on the Tabriz tradition: a full cartoon, a tight cotton warp, and fine wool spun for a short, even clip so the curved line survives. This one is knotted closely enough for the vine to keep its curve through the smallest stems, and the back shown against the ruler tells the story better than any adjective does, with straight, regular rows and a crisp border reading. The wool takes a clean shear and has a mild natural sheen, and the added silk is used sparingly as highlight rather than as filler. Among hand-knotted Oriental rugs in this size, a piece with this much fine floral detail on an unworn, brand new pile is the kind that stays in a room for decades.
